Our recent roundtable brought together industry experts and curious clients to explore how data can transform workplace culture. Hosted by t-three and Kiddy & Partners, a number of learning and development experts from various organisations and sectors joined us for an insightful discussion, unearthing some practical insights.
Here are some key discussion points that might help you think about how you can further leverage data to support your people and culture activities:
One key theme was the importance of moving beyond mere data collection to insight, creating the potential for genuine impact. Many participants shared that while engagement surveys are common, they’re just a tick-box exercise if not followed by meaningful action. Instead, regular interventions, ideally twice a year, were recognised as a great way to help reconnect leaders with staff experiences and spark the change needed to cultivate a vibrant work culture.
The discussion also highlighted the potential of 360 reviews and psychometric tools to create the needed motivation for behaviour change. Attendees recounted experiences where well-designed manager packs not only delivered clear insights but also empowered teams. In one instance, a pilot programme achieved remarkable success, with feedback scores indicating that employees felt truly valued and understood. This example proved that when data is shared in an accessible way, it can transform team dynamics and boost confidence.
Another important point centred on embedding data into performance review processes. Speakers emphasised the importance of systems that integrate development plans into everyday work, making performance discussions more meaningful than traditional training needs analyses. Such practices ensure that every individual’s contribution is recognised and aligned with broader organisational goals, paving the way for continuous improvement.
Action over Collection: Data is only as good as the actions it inspires. Regular, thoughtful interventions are crucial.
Empowerment through Insight: Presenting data in an accessible format can significantly enhance team dynamics and individual growth.
Integrated Performance: Embedding data into performance reviews and development plans provides a more accurate picture of progress than standard analyses.
Culture Change: Overcoming initial resistance to feedback requires ongoing dialogue and a commitment to listening.
The roundtable was more than a discussion; it was a call to action. By embracing data with clarity and purpose, organisations can create a culture that not only measures success but also drives it. With strong leadership and a commitment to continuous improvement, the ideas shared at the event have the potential to reshape how we think about engagement and development for years to come.
