As we approach the end of 2019, we've reached awards season in the L&D industry. In the last month, we've had the pleasure of being nominated for awards at two different awards ceremonies, and are thrilled to have taken home awards at both events.
Alongside Sainsbury's we took home the award for "Best Next Generation Initiative for Business Culture" at the Business Culture Awards, and "Best Leadership Development Programme" at the TJ Awards.
Business Culture Awards: Best Next Generation Initiative for Business Culture
On 14th November, we attended the Business Culture Awards Dinner at the Royal Garden Hotel in London, where we were presented with the "Best Next Generation Initiative for Business Culture" award for the Trainee Manager programme we ran with Sainsbury’s.
The judges were looking for an organisation that has deployed an innovative and effective strategy to maximise the talent opportunity offered by the next generation of their workforce.
Here’s what the judges had to say about our programme:
“Huge individual investment in people which has clearly reaped great reward for Sainsbury's. Very impactful approach and love the fact that you were brave enough to take them out of their day jobs to focus on this.”
“A thoroughly impressive project that Sainsbury's and t-three must be extremely proud of. The entry has clearly demonstrated the strategy behind the project and an excellently managed execution resulting in outcomes that likely surpassed initial expectations.”
“Without doubt, Leading Starts Here has made a huge impact on the Next Generation of Management in the workforce. Congratulations!”
“An innovative way of addressing a very clear succession challenge and a real investment in talent which has brought tangible results.”
“A comprehensive and brave learning programme aimed at getting people ready for a key leadership role. A great mix of user-led content and strategies to transfer to behavioural change. Great outcomes.”
“The one thing that struck me from this entry is that a participant said that this program made them not just a better leader, but a better person. The increase in NPS is also impressive, but the impact that this program seemed to have on participants was moving.”
“This was an excellent learning program for managers and really helped address the succession planning challenge.”
“A brilliant example of leadership development designed to continually improve in-store culture at an organisational level. I was particularly impressed by the ambitious and bold goals set and the investment in taking people out of their day jobs for 6 months to complete the program. I loved the creativity in grounding the program in real action learning in-store through store challenges, goal mentors, 360 and the role modelling of store heroes to ensure learning was super relevant to their culture. The overall results were phenomenal and lovely to see the managers tell their own story on video. Well done!”
We were also nominated for two other awards at the event; Best Large Organisation for Business Culture, which was won by Allied Irish Bank UK, and Best Learning Initiative for Business Culture, won by Barclays and Hive Learning.
It was a great evening of celebration to reflect on the hard work and achievements of the last 12 months and we enjoyed connecting with like-minded leaders in the industry.
TJ Awards: Best Leadership Development Programme
Hot on the heels of a successful night at the Business Culture Awards, on December 3rd we attended the TJ Awards at The Tower of London. The TJ awards are part of the Training Journal brand, which has been supporting those involved in workplace learning and development for over 50 years.
We were thrilled to take home the award for "Best Leadership Development Programme", alongside Sainsbury's for our Leading Starts Here programme.
The judges were looking for new initiatives and practitioners that:
- Demonstrated a clear understanding of best practice excellence in the field of leadership and L&D
- Understood the organisation, its aims and objectives
- Showed good problem-solving skills, horizon scanning and forward thinking
- Had clear evidence of success.
We're incredibly proud of the leadership development programme we created with Sainsbury's. For the leaders we worked with the impact was felt both in and outside of the working environment, and we're thrilled to see how it has positively affected not just the business but the leaders themselves. To be recognised for our work at two awards ceremonies is the icing on the cake. We look forward to what 2020 will bring!
