Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service needed to raise the performance of their teams, through actively managing performance, and by implementing a new appraisal and feedback system, the Performance Development Review System (PDRS).
Through a diagnostic we designed and ran mixed-level and mixed-discipline group sessions for all 331 managers, both uniformed and non-uniformed. The sessions covered leadership skills such as motivation; giving regular feedback, both positive and course-correcting (not traditional in Fire Services); defining well-set outcomes, and how to run powerful and effective performance review meetings. The sessions also explored the new Fire Service Values.
